Well it looks like mp3.com has sold itself to CNET and the new owners have screwed the pooch by suspending and/or possibly wiping all the artists like me and my mates who've laboriously uploaded their songs and poems over the years.
To be honest I'm well pissed off with this, my own mp3.com page alone had around 5 years of off and on work on it, not to mention 5 downloadable / buyable albums hosted there. Plus the pages I set up for afh, Mad Matt, Desdemona & Broken Brow are gone and the page Andy Raven built for himself... I know we got a few years out of mp3.com but it does make you feel like you're pissing in the wind!
Still my IUMA.com page is still there with two albums to stream or download at http://preacherjohn.iuma.com/ and there's a link off Channel Idris front page. My apologies to everyone else, this "back up" page was something I put together years ago when I was really gunning for web recognition and I never expected to need it!

Still writing up my last couple of months adventures - watch this space!

Well I made it to Mexico and all the way down the Baja Peninsula to La Paz! It was 4 months to the day two days ago since I left the UK on this trip....
Things are moving along down here - I moved into my new apartment three days ago! at last a place of my own (that isn´t a caravan or one tiny room) and it´s only setting me back 2200 pesos = 150quid a month (cheaper than the hostel) And it´s quieter and warmer at night than the hostel + I have fans and air con! Woooo Hoooo! :) ..... and I seem to be winning the cockroach war by keeping the place real clean and killing the one or two I find that have crept in under the door each evening. My plastic covered spanish english dictionary is ideal for this purpose as it is heavy and the covers wipe squeaky clean. If cockroaches have a god of death I suspect it looks very much like a man who has just emerged naked and steaming from the shower at 1am in the morning to deal fatal blows with a book in one hand and a shoe in the other.
La Paz is a seaside town of about 200,000 people, it{s the regional capital of Baja California del Sur, chilled in the week and partying at the weekend, it{s the most prosperous town in Mexico and very mellow - no pervading sense of crime and violence, and the local coppers seem relatively decent... I live about ten blocks from the dead centre and the seafront which has a nice enough beach although you wouldn{t swim here there being a big port and an industrial plant on the bay which still retains its beauty being backed by low lying mountains.... lots of cute chicas, mariachi music, good fish tacos, and a market for fresh fruit...
Ive trogged out to a couple of language institutes here with my letter and CV in spanish, favourable noises were made but no work in the offing there, but at least the chap at UABCS Dept of Languages said that he will very probably have something for me in January when the new term starts - probably give me an intensive three month course to teach (Jan-March) which is great news. :D
By the way: there{s almost nothing more annoying than hearing the Powerpuff Girls singing "Feliz Navidad" (Merry Xmas) in helium pitch spanish for 3/4 hour as you search for a mop and bucket in a Mexican supermarket in November!
